Ellen Calls Rep. Sally Kern...

As many have heard by now, Rep. Sally Kern (R-OK) is a homophobe. She was talking with who she thought were a private group of republicans. During this "private" talk, she insinuated that homosexuals were worst than terrorists. She also tried to reiterate the old talking point that religious leaders keep bringing up. That we are trying to "indoctrinate kids" as young as 2-years old. Well Ellen DeGeneres decided that she would call Rep. Sally Kern and have a little chat with her.
The speech, which accused gays of "infiltrating" government posts in order to indoctrinate children in public schools and otherwise further the "homosexual agenda," prompted DeGeneres to attempt a phone call to Kern, to audience applause, during the show's taping.

"I feel like there's some misinformation going on here," Ellen said after playing clips of the speech, "and--I think I need to call her."

The best part is that Rep. Kern's voice mailbox is full. Has she been receiving some calls from angry people? Could be.

Below is the whole clip of that portion of the speech:

Now the best part is Rep. Kern is defending what she has said:
“To put this simply, as a Christian I believe homosexuality is not moral. Obviously, you have the right as an American to choose that lifestyle, but I also have the right to express my views and my fellow Oklahomans have the right to debate these issues.

“In recent years homosexual activists have begun to aggressively promote their agenda through the political process, often providing substantial financing to candidates who agree with their views, including many running for state legislative races. National publications such as Time, The Atlantic and USA Today have noted that trend. That is their right, just as it is my right to voice opposition to their agenda, which I have been asked to do at several public forums in recent months. That’s what democracy is all about. It appears some homosexual activists believe only one group is allowed a voice in this debate. I disagree.

“A vigorous debate on an issue is not ‘hate speech’ – it’s free speech. I have made clear my opposition to the agenda of homosexual activists, but I have never endorsed or supported any hateful action targeting individuals on the other side of this debate and never will. The fact that many gay rights activists claim anyone opposing their agenda is engaging in ‘hate speech’ says more about them than me.

“Most Oklahomans are socially conservative and believe marriage is a sacred institution, the union of one man and one woman, and that the traditional family is worth protecting and preserving. When I campaigned for office, I promised my constituents to stand up for those values, and I do not apologize for keeping my word.”

Remember not to long ago I talked about Oklahoma and their homophobia. This was the state that wanted to pass a law that said a child that had gay parents was considered an orphan in their state. This included people traveling through their state.

This woman is a bonafide kook - she blames those pesky "gay activists" for engaging in free-speech without recognizing how misinformed and uneducated she is while still flapping her lips:

She repeated encourages "debate" over human sexuality.

She refers to human sexuality as a "lifestyle"

She feels (only) her views are worthy of debate. If LGBT contributes to this (debate) they are accused of denying her freedom of speech (geez, this is going to take more than Lithium)...

She calls citizens she's supposed to represent as homosexual activists, instead of their true roles in society, such as mother, father, sister, brother...

I'm dying to listen to what she feels encompasses the "agenda."

She feels that only heterosexuals should be allowed to financially contribute to campaigns and participate in politics.

She fails to recognize that it was her "right" to have a "voice" in her imaginary "debate" over human sexuality.
