He Who Must Not Be Named...

No this is not a clip from the new Harry Potter movie. This is actually one of McCain's spokesman, Michael Goldfarb, who is still trying to make a connection between Obama and anti-Semite people.

But CNN's Rick Sanchez calls Goldfarb out for the hypocrisy of hyping a sinister connection between Obama and a guy that McCain funneled hundreds of thousands of dollars to, and from there, Goldfarb goes right off the rails, refusing to answer Sanchez's questions with anything other than intimations. Repeatedly asked to name a second anti-Semite that Obama allegedly "pals around with," Goldfarb does nothing but issue hollow, Page Six-style intimations.
You have to watch this video to see what a complete incompetent fool this person is. If he has another name, I would want to know about it, but what I see is someone who is acting lilke a third grader and complaining that someone took his cookie. What a sad day that people can make acusations and then sit there with a little smirk on their faces and someone (probably the people that hate blacks) will belive this little piece of shit.

Here is the video via Huffington Post:

The Cackling Women of the View...

Like some people, I have tried to get as much information as I possibly could when it comes to both of the candidates. The reason I say some is because most people are going with how the candidates make them feel. Most people make some sort of connection with the person. Most people say they vote for a person because they feel they can sit down and have a beer with them.

What I don't understand is why people who slam Obama for not knowing what he stands for or feels that he hasn't done anything that makes him qualified to be president, are rallying around Palin. Then I saw the wonderful insight of the Sherri Shephed. You remember her. The one that couldn't answer if the world was round or flat. Well now she has decided to give her insight as to why Palin would make a great president. Sherri and her stupidity again:

"Barbara, please do not discount Palin as a mother. This woman's got four, now five kids. you tell me what mother cannot run the country after having five kids. She either comes in and she does it politcally or she takes it by force. Do not, I mean and I know that everbody says she lacks experience but as a mother I'm going the woman was in charge of the PTA. You can't even get chairs when you're in charge of the PTA. Come on. I'm so excited about this race now."
What really scares me is that when she said this the crowd started to clap and chear. WHAT? So people think that since she ran the PTA and has five kids she can take on countries that hate us? Oh, but I should not forget that Sherri puts us all at ease because she knows that McCain will not die in his first term. So how does she know this? She is talking to god?

The wonderful insight of Sherri starts at 1:16. The other bad part of this is that not one of the other hosts said anything to her. They let her spew her infalible insight.

She's Hot, Thank God The Issues Don't Matter...

Thank god for us, the issues don't really matter. The republican party has "the Hottest VP" ever. This is what matters or so it seems to the GOP. Who cares that she wanted to ban books, that she wants to take the rights away from women and their bodies, that she touts abstinence and does not want sex education taught, but her daughter is learning from her baby's daddy. Someone that has no idea what the VP does. Someone whose only international experience is traveling to another country on vacation. But why should we worry? Why, because the GOP seems to be able to get away with anything.

Even when two top Republican pundits, Peggy Noonan and Mike Murphy, talk about how this choice is "bullshit" (watch below), all will be forgotten of the things that Palin has not done when it come time vote. People will vote for McCain because they connect with Palin. They understand her and where she is coming from. No one cares that she could be the next president. No one cares because she is HOT. Gotta love the Republicans. They can take the office of the VP and sexualize it. This should piss many off, but will it? No!

Here's the transcript, courtesy of TPM:
CHUCK TODD: Mike Murphy, lots of free advice, we'll see if Steve Schmidt and the boys were watching. We'll find out on your blackberry. Tonight voters will get their chance to hear from Sarah Palin and she will get the chance to show voters she's the right woman for the job Up next, one man who's already convinced and he'll us why Gov. Jon Huntsman.
(cut away)

PEGGY NOONAN: Yeah.

MIKE MURPHY: You know, because I come out of the blue swing state governor world: Engler, Whitman, Tommy Thompson, Mitt Romney, Jeb Bush. I mean, these guys -- this is how you win a Texas race, just run it up. And it's not gonna work. And --

PEGGY NOONAN: It's over.

MIKE MURPHY: Still McCain can give a version of the Lieberman speech to do himself some good.

CHUCK TODD: I also think the Palin pick is insulting to Kay Bailey Hutchinson, too.

PEGGY NOONAN: Saw Kay this morning.

CHUCK TODD: Yeah, she's never looked comfortable about this --

MIKE MURPHY: They're all bummed out.

CHUCK TODD: Yeah, I mean is she really the most qualified woman they could have turned to?

PEGGY NOONAN: The most qualified? No! I think they went for this -- excuse me-- political bullshit about narratives --

CHUCK TODD: Yeah they went to a narrative.

MIKE MURPHY: I totally agree.

PEGGY NOONAN: Every time the Republicans do that, because that's not where they live and it's not what they're good at, they blow it.

MIKE MURPHY: You know what's really the worst thing about it? The greatness of McCain is no cynicism, and this is cynical.

CHUCK TODD: This is cynical, and as you called it, gimmicky.

MIKE MURPHY: Yeah.

Sarah Palin Wanted To Ban Books...

This is just scary and the Christian Right sees nothing wrong with this. From Crooks and Liars:

[Former mayor] John Stein says that as mayor, Palin continued to inject religious beliefs into her policy at times. “She asked the library how she could go about banning books,” he says, because some voters thought they had inappropriate language in them. “The librarian was aghast.” That woman, Mary Ellen Baker, couldn’t be reached for comment, but news reports from the time show that Palin had threatened to fire Baker for not giving “full support” to the mayor.

This comes from a TIME article filed from Wasilla, where journalists are busy doing the vetting that McCain left to a secretive ultra-right group, the Council for National Policy.

Think that this could not happen in 2008 - your wrong. From September 27 until October 4 is Banned Book Week. Still across this country of ours, people who think they have an "in" with their almighty god feel that can tell me what I and my children can and cannot read. How dare these people assume that they know what everyone should read!

From the American Library Association (ALA):
Each year, the American Library Association's (ALA) Office for Intellectual Freedom receives hundreds of reports on books and other materials that were "challenged" (their removal from school or library shelves was requested). The ALA estimates the number represents only about a quarter of the actual challenges. "Most Challenged" titles include the popular "Harry Potter" series of fantasy books for children by J.K. Rowling. The series drew complaints from parents and others who believe the books promote witchcraft to children.
Here is a list of the books that have been banned (or requested to be banned) and the reasons:
  1. "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn" by Mark Twain, for its use of language, particularly references to race
  2. "It's Perfectly Normal", a sex education book by Robie Harris, for being too explicit, especially for children
  3. "I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings" by Maya Angelou, for the description of rape she suffered as a child.
  4. "Tripping Over the Lunch Lady" by Angela Johnson, challenged at the Magruder Elementary School for inclusion in the library for passages about war.
  5. All Harry Potter Books because some Christians are scared of wizards and witches!?
  6. "The Earth, My Butt, and Other Big Round Things", Carolyn Mackler, challenged for sexual content, offensive language, being "anti-family", and being unsuited for age group.
  7. "And Tango Makes Three" by Peter Parnell, Justin Richardson, and Henry Cole, challenged for homosexuality and being "anti-family".
The best part of And Tango Makes Three is that this is a true story of two male penguins in New York City's Central Park Zoo. "They cuddle and share a nest like the other penguin couples, and when all the others start hatching eggs, they want to be parents, too. Determined and hopeful, they bring an egg-shaped rock back to their nest and proceed to start caring for it. They have little luck, until a watchful zookeeper decides they deserve a chance at having their own family and gives them an egg in need of nurturing. The dedicated and enthusiastic fathers do a great job of hatching their funny and adorable daughter, and the three can still be seen at the zoo today." - amazon I love that some crazy people out there want to ban this book. Are they afraid that since homosexuality happens in nature that means that it is not a choice. Cannot have that. Our kids will be scared for life. Also saying that it is "anti-family" when it shows true love for the offsrping they are entrusted with. God I hate people that try to make something out of nothing.

Back...

I am back. Its been a while, but I have a good excuse - sorta. If you notice, the last time I posted anything was on June 20. The reason for this was school. Yes, during our wonderful summer months I have been working my ass off with school. Mark told me that he has never seen me spend so much time doing school - and it was pissing him off. Summer is supposed to be the time where we can get out of the house, work on the yard, grow a wonderful garden, but not this summer. This summer I had to take Accounting!

This class kicked my ass and then some. I was putting in more than 15 hours a week for this class alone. I also had a Sociology class that was driving me crazy. That along with taking care of Mikayla, trying to find time for Mark to work in his garden and time for me to breath. It blew. But with the click of a key stroke I am done with this horrid class. I now have a week and a half off to breath (somewhat). The reason I say somewhat is because next week starts "preweek" for my next classes and I will have work that will need to be done. The upside. Yes there is an upside. We will be in Michigan visiting my family. Grandma will be able to spend her days taking care of our little angel.

So why was this class so hard? The reason is that I had a professor that was absent for the first five plus weeks. With accounting, everything you are learning builds on what you had learned. My wonderful professor would post questions that we had to answer on a weekly basis and that would be it. He never commented on anything that anyone had said. Students were answering others questions concerning the homework. The professor had just disappeared. Hers is the best part. Weeks one through five we not corrected and given back to us until we were halfway through week six. So I was trying to do work with the hope that I got the first five weeks correct.

Emails to the professor came back with how busy he was. How far behind he was and that he was trying to get all the papers corrected. Sorry, if you cannot handle the work load - don't do the work. He would tell us all that such and such would be back to us by X date. Nothing. I mean come on. I had a deadline that I had to make concerning my post and homework. Since he is teaching, he should be right on top of things.

Well, the whole class received an email from someone at the collage telling us that many students had concerns about this professor. The email went on to tellus that they were also trying to get in touch with him and that we should hold on tight. Yes I was one that ratted on him. Then a couple of days later, there he is, but still no homework. He is still behind and we are finishing week six. This is a twelve week course. By the end of week six all of my homework is finally graded and amazingly I did well. All A's on the homework and B's on the posts (I didn't care about those as much since the professor didn't seem to either).

Now with a smile on my face - I AM DONE!!!

So on with all the important things that have been happening.

Why Gays Should Not Marry...

1) Homosexuality is not natural, much like eyeglasses, polyester, and birth control.

2) Heterosexual marriages are valid because they produce children. Infertile couples and old people can't legally get married because the world needs more children.

3) Obviously, gay parents will raise gay children, since straight parents only raise straight children.

4) Straight marriage will be less meaningful if Gay marriage is allowed, since Britney Spears' 55-hour just-for-fun marriage was meaningful.

5) Heterosexual marriage has been around a long time and hasn't changed at all; women are property, blacks can't marry whites, and divorce is illegal.

6) Gay marriage should be decided by people, not the courts, because the majority-elected legislatures, not courts, have historically protected the rights of the minorities.

7) Gay marriage is not supported by religion. In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are imposed on the entire country. That's why we have only one religion in America.

8) Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall.

9) Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract.

10) Children can never succeed without a male and a female role model at home. That's why single parents are forbidden to raise children.

11) Gay marriage will change the foundation of society. Heterosexual marriage has been around for a long time, and we could never adapt to new social norms because we haven't adapted to things like cars or longer life-spans.

12) Civil unions, providing most of the same benefits as marriage with a different name are better, because a "separate but equal" institution is always constitutional. Separate schools for African-Americans worked just as well as separate marriages for gays and lesbians will.

Wake Up America...

I am not sure if I mentioned it before, but Keith Olbermann is my hero. Of all the newscasters out there (and there are many) he seems to tell it like it should be told. Yes, he is giving his opinion, but isn't that what news is all about now? There is no more news, there is only a perception of the world that we see and how it is reported depends on the person sitting behind the desk. With that said, I like Olbermann's perception on the news. With Bush's approval rating at an all time low (sorry dad), how can Olbermann be wrong.

This is from a while back, but it still resonates with me and how I feel about the dumb-ass, dick-head that has taken the country, that so many love, and driven it into the ground. To give you a little setup. On May 13, 2008, the president sat down with Politico.com to answer some questions from online users of Yahoo. His answers to some of the questions should not have been spoken from a president. But of course we all have to realize that this was unscripted (very rare for this idiot) and we all know that Bush cannot think and talk at the same time.

Here is Olbermann's comments. When you watch him, you can tell that what he is saying means a lot to him.

Update: Here is an update on the "cold-blooded killer comment" that Olbermann made during the video above. It is amazing that when I watched the video and he made the comment on the "cold-blooded killers" I thought only of the Bush administration, not the troops. Why do the Right Wing lunatics hate our troops?

Success...

Well finally after seven and a half LONG years, George Bush has finally succeeded at something. According to CNN, 71 percent of the American people "disapprove of how Bush is handling his job as president". Now think about this people. Obviously the Democratic party does not make up 71 percent of America so there are some republicans that feel this way as well. I know that this information is going to do nothing to my father's ideals which are "George Bush is the best president ever, right after Ronald (let's not talk about AIDS) Reagan".

How can people, even jokingly, think that this moron is doing a good job? Gas will surpass $4 a gallon soon, 4065 (as of 5/2/08) American service men and women have died in a false war, 1,205,025 Iraqis have perished since our occupation, and we have spent more than $515,918,607,081 on Iraq alone. Take the last number into consideration. That is $4,681 per household, $1,721 per person, $341.4 million per day. (National Priorities Project).

So back to only "The Worst President EVER". Although Harry Truman and Richard Nixon's approval rating were in the low 20's, their "disapproval" rating never broke the 70 percentile. Isn't this dick-head an employee of the American people? Isn't he supposed to care what we think and how we feel?
"No president has ever had a higher disapproval rating in any CNN or Gallup Poll; in fact, this is the first time that any president's disapproval rating has cracked the 70 percent mark," said Keating Holland, CNN's polling director.

Dick Head Sings...

Dick Head sings: After YouTube took down a cell phone video recording of the president serenading the White House press corps, Salon’s Scott Bateman put together this animated video to go along with an audio recording of Bush’s song.

Not only is George making fun of all the problems he has caused, the press corps is laughing at it. This is why our news is "fair and balanced"!

Ellen Calls Rep. Sally Kern...

As many have heard by now, Rep. Sally Kern (R-OK) is a homophobe. She was talking with who she thought were a private group of republicans. During this "private" talk, she insinuated that homosexuals were worst than terrorists. She also tried to reiterate the old talking point that religious leaders keep bringing up. That we are trying to "indoctrinate kids" as young as 2-years old. Well Ellen DeGeneres decided that she would call Rep. Sally Kern and have a little chat with her.
The speech, which accused gays of "infiltrating" government posts in order to indoctrinate children in public schools and otherwise further the "homosexual agenda," prompted DeGeneres to attempt a phone call to Kern, to audience applause, during the show's taping.

"I feel like there's some misinformation going on here," Ellen said after playing clips of the speech, "and--I think I need to call her."
(via PageOneQ)

The best part is that Rep. Kern's voice mailbox is full. Has she been receiving some calls from angry people? Could be.

Below is the whole clip of that portion of the speech:

Now the best part is Rep. Kern is defending what she has said:
“To put this simply, as a Christian I believe homosexuality is not moral. Obviously, you have the right as an American to choose that lifestyle, but I also have the right to express my views and my fellow Oklahomans have the right to debate these issues.

“In recent years homosexual activists have begun to aggressively promote their agenda through the political process, often providing substantial financing to candidates who agree with their views, including many running for state legislative races. National publications such as Time, The Atlantic and USA Today have noted that trend. That is their right, just as it is my right to voice opposition to their agenda, which I have been asked to do at several public forums in recent months. That’s what democracy is all about. It appears some homosexual activists believe only one group is allowed a voice in this debate. I disagree.

“A vigorous debate on an issue is not ‘hate speech’ – it’s free speech. I have made clear my opposition to the agenda of homosexual activists, but I have never endorsed or supported any hateful action targeting individuals on the other side of this debate and never will. The fact that many gay rights activists claim anyone opposing their agenda is engaging in ‘hate speech’ says more about them than me.

“Most Oklahomans are socially conservative and believe marriage is a sacred institution, the union of one man and one woman, and that the traditional family is worth protecting and preserving. When I campaigned for office, I promised my constituents to stand up for those values, and I do not apologize for keeping my word.”
(via PageOneQ)
See full video here: Sally Kern

Remember not to long ago I talked about Oklahoma and their homophobia. This was the state that wanted to pass a law that said a child that had gay parents was considered an orphan in their state. This included people traveling through their state.

Bushism...

Once again we close out the week with an inspirational quote from our illustrious president:

"Rarely is the questioned asked: Is our children learning?" —Florence, S.C., Jan. 11, 2000

Here is a compilation of some of Bush's best works:

Out of Touch...

It is known that President Bush doesn't read the newspaper:

HUME: How do you get your news?

BUSH: I get briefed by Andy Card and Condi in the morning. They come in and tell me. In all due respect, you've got a beautiful face and everything.

I glance at the headlines just to kind of a flavor for what's moving. I rarely read the stories, and get briefed by people who are probably read the news themselves. But like Condoleezza, in her case, the national security adviser is getting her news directly from the participants on the world stage.

(via Foxnews)

Now during a question and answer session, Bush was asked about the possibility of $4/gal gas and his response:

Q: - What's your advice to the average American who is hurting now, facing the prospect of $4 a gallon gasoline, a lot of people facing -

THE PRESIDENT: Wait, what did you just say? You're predicting $4 a gallon gasoline?

Q: - A number of analysts are predicting -

THE PRESIDENT: Oh, yeah?

Q:-- $4 a gallon gasoline this spring when they reformulate.

THE PRESIDENT: That's interesting. I hadn't heard that.

How Sick Do We Have To Be...

On Friday, the Agriculture Secretary Edward Schafer, resists banning downer cattle. What does this mean? It means that unless they can prove that the cattle were ill, they are fine for the American people to eat. This was all brought on by the video that the Humane Society of the United States had that showed downer cows being pushed and dragged by forklifts, abused by employees, and being picked up so they could pass the inspection to be slaughtered for your food. The best part came from Sen. Tom Harkin (D-Iowa):
"Listen, Mr. Secretary," said Sen. Tom Harkin, D-Iowa, cutting him off, "the fact is that we don't know if the animals portrayed in this video were sick or not. Unless you can inform me differently, the fact is we don't know. ... We're faced with the possibility that people could become sick."

He's correct, we don't know and how dare our government (the Department of Ag), the people that are supposed to be looking out for me and you, tell us that animals that are, by law, supposed to be humanely euthanized are good enough for me to eat. Does he remember that this was the biggest meat recall in our history? Why would you want to take a chance?

$54...

Mark just emailed me and told me that it took $54 to fill our gas tank today. Fifty-four dollars. How is this OK? The average gas price today (2/29/08) is $3.169. Last month, the average was $2.939 and a year ago it was $2.409. So we have gone up almost a dollar in the last year. Actually it will go up over a dollar (and more) in the next couple of months. Today, the price for a barrel of oil has reached a record high of $103. I remember when it was high at $76 a barrel and that was just last summer. Now are you going to tell me that people's pay rates have been increased as well? I think not. So what is the problem here?

According to Bush, nothing. We are not heading for a recession:

"We've acted robustly and now it's time to determine whether or not this programme will actually work," Bush said, referring to a $168 billion stimulus plan he signed into law this month.

"There's no question the economy's slowed down," he said at a White House news conference. "I don't think we're headed to a recession."

NBC's today show points out that oil and gas prices are up, home sales down, the dollar is down against the Euro. Amazingly the only place that the dollar is up in the world is South Africa and South Korea. We have a war where we are spending millions daily and we are financing this war by borrowing money from other countries. How is this good. To fill our oil tank yesterday cost us $3.49/gal. This is getting out of hand. With one person working (by choice), how are families supposed to survive in this mess?

Mark and I are lucky in that we had a chance to pay off all our bills when we were both working, This cost us some things though. For three years we didn't do anything really. We rarely ate out, we didn't see any movies, we rarely went anywhere or bought anything except the needed essentials. We see the middle class fading away and what remains is the upper class and lower class. How can we keep going like this? How can we have a president that is so delusional that he truly believes that America is doing well? It will be interesting to see what happens over the next couple of months. Both Mark and I think there will be some sort of major change.

Pets And Depression...

First we have a country here people are on all sorts of drugs and medication to help get them through the day. This is not including the "self-medication" that we do to ourselves daily (i.e. coffee, sweets, cigarettes). Since it seems that the pharmaceutical companies are running out of people to drug up, they are now going after our pets. News.com.au has the best headline: Suicidal Pets Given Anti-Depressants. People are giving Prozac to their animals now. The story talks mainly about birds, but the way I see it the pharmaceutical companies are trying to get more loving animals on these drugs since they have already flooded the human market. Some of the world’s largest pharmaceutical companies have also recognized the need for anti-depressants for animals or have do they see someplace else that they can make money. This can be seen in the first ever "weight loss" pill for your pudgy little pet.

In 2007, Pfizer was able to get the first doggie weight loss pill approved. The "miracle" drug is called Slentrol and it is supposed to be a fat blocker that prevents the absorption of fat in their bodies while working as an appetite suppressant to keep your dog from overeating. The Food And Drug Administration happily approves of Slentrol for use on family dogs nationwide.

The best part of the article is this: "Why are 40 percent of dogs in the U.S. overweight or obese? The answer is simple: Too much food and too little exercise," said Claudia Kirk, associate professor of medicine and nutrition at the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Tennessee. "In today's hectic world, it's a challenge for many dog owners to find time to ensure their pets get adequate exercise." Lets take a look at the obesity levels in humans in the America. America is the fattest country and many people want that miracle pill to take care of not getting off their lazy asses and taking a walk. This would help their pets as well. Get the dog outside to get exercise and hey wait a minute, I'm getting exercise as well.

Why is it that we need cure all pill that is probably killing us. We are so lazy that we have to make a cure all pill for our pets. When pets are so depressed they are suicidal (how do we know) or so fat that we need a pill to help them lose weight? I think the best thing to do would be to get off our own asses and make their lives more enjoyable. Stop sitting in front of the TV or computer. Take yourself and your pets outside.

Bushisms...

And to close out the week (Thank God It's Friday), here is a little something from Bush's first term. I think we should have known something back then.

"You teach a child to read, and he or her will be able to pass a literacy test.'' Townsend, Tenn., Feb. 21, 2001

Makes me proud!
