Idaho, The Place To Be For Racism...

Now I understand where the kids get their hatred. I am referring to the post below this one.

VAY (AP) - A sign erected by a northern Idaho landowner that advertises a "free public hanging" of President-elect Barack Obama and several other political figures is being investigated by the U.S. Secret Service.

Bonner County Sheriff Elaine Savage said she and a Secret Service agent from Spokane, Wash., planned to take a firsthand look at the sign put up by Ken Germana.

"That's a political statement," Germana told the Bonner County Daily Bee. "They can call it whatever they want, a threat or whatever."

The handmade white cardboard sign posted to a tree has the words "FREE PUBLIC HANGING" written in large orange letters. A noose fashioned from a length of rope hangs down the middle of the sign.

The name of the Democratic Illinois senator is written in equally large letters near the bottom of the sign. In smaller letters are the names of Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and civil rights activist and former presidential candidate Al Sharpton.

My God. It amazes me that in 2008 we have so much hatred in this country. These people are really beginning to sound like domestic terrorists. "According to a memo produced by the FBI's Terrorist Research and Analytical Center in 1994, domestic terrorism was defined as 'the unlawful use of force or violence, committed by a group(s) of two or more individuals, against persons or property to intimidate or coerce a government, the civilian population, or any segment thereof, in furtherance of political or social objectives.'" (Wikipedia)

The FBI should be have this person in custody, but as we saw in the McCain rally's, the verbal threats against ACORN and Obama, that will never happen. How can the color of one's skin produce so much hatred in a country that is supposed to be so far advanced. What I see is a country that is still trying to grow up.

What A Wonderful World...

Where do kids get their ideas? They don't just pull them out of their ass. From what we saw in the McCain campaign, the hatred comes from the parents and their friends. Why is it that these people feel that wanting someone dead is better than the terrorist that we are fighting? These people are no better and to pass this hatred on to their kids just floors me.

REXBURG - Controversial words spoken by kids on a school bus have some Madison County parents concerned.

Matthew Whoolery and his wife aren't blaming the school district for what happened on the bus but they do think all parents need to be careful about what they say and teach their children.

Whoolery and his wife couldn't believe it when their second and third graders got off the bus last week and told them what other students were saying.

"They just hadn't heard anything like this before," said Whoolery. "They were chanting on the bus, 'Assassinate Obama. Assassinate Obama.' Then adding in a name sometimes of a classmate on the bus, 'Assassinate Obama and Kate.'"

He Who Must Not Be Named...

No this is not a clip from the new Harry Potter movie. This is actually one of McCain's spokesman, Michael Goldfarb, who is still trying to make a connection between Obama and anti-Semite people.

But CNN's Rick Sanchez calls Goldfarb out for the hypocrisy of hyping a sinister connection between Obama and a guy that McCain funneled hundreds of thousands of dollars to, and from there, Goldfarb goes right off the rails, refusing to answer Sanchez's questions with anything other than intimations. Repeatedly asked to name a second anti-Semite that Obama allegedly "pals around with," Goldfarb does nothing but issue hollow, Page Six-style intimations.
You have to watch this video to see what a complete incompetent fool this person is. If he has another name, I would want to know about it, but what I see is someone who is acting lilke a third grader and complaining that someone took his cookie. What a sad day that people can make acusations and then sit there with a little smirk on their faces and someone (probably the people that hate blacks) will belive this little piece of shit.

Why The Debate Needs To Go On...

Barbara Boxer (D-California) gives a great explanation of why McCain saying he is not doing the debate is a sign of weakness.

McCain has changed his mind and will be at the debate tonight.

Letterman Slams McCain For Suspending His Campaign...

Dave said what the rest of the country is thinking, "What are you going to do if you're elected and things get tough? Suspend being president? We've got a guy like that now!"

From Huffington Post:
"In the middle of the taping Dave got word that McCain was, in fact just down the street being interviewed by Katie Couric. Dave even cut over to the live video of the interview, and said, "Hey Senator, can I give you a ride home?"

Earlier in the show, Dave kept saying, "You don't suspend your campaign. This doesn't smell right. This isn't the way a tested hero behaves." And he joked: "I think someone's putting something in his metamucil."

"He can't run the campaign because the economy is cratering? Fine, put in your second string quarterback, Sarah Palin. Where is she?"

"What are you going to do if you're elected and things get tough? Suspend being president? We've got a guy like that now!"

Update - Here is the video. Dave is Great and again says what the rest of the country is thinking. Gets good around the 2:30 mark.

Obama says that the debates are still on, as they should be. From Huffington Post;

Humane Society Legislative Fund Endorses Obama...

"The HSLF board of directors—which is comprised of both Democrats and Republicans—has voted unanimously to endorse Barack Obama for President. The Obama-Biden ticket is the better choice on animal protection, and we urge all voters who care about the humane treatment of animals, regardless of party affiliation, to vote for them"

Eye to Eye: Obama - What's Next...

Obama finally made it as the presumptive Nominee of the Democratic Party. Now he can finally start getting things rolling to fight against the RNC. In this video he talks about Hillary supporters, McCain and Bush, and what he plans for the future of the country. Now that Hillary has dropped out, I feel positive now that we have a chance of taking this country back (unless Bush decided to toss something into the mix as attacking Iran!)

SNL Obama/Clinton Only One Ad...

SNL took the NBA "There Can Only Be One" ads and added a twist. They did it for Obama and Clinton. The funny part is they are still tearing Clinton apart. Even SNL knows when enough should be enough.

Will She Just Stop Now...

TIME's circulation is nearly 5 million. But TIME's impact goes far beyond its voluminous subscribers. In doctors' offices across America, every mom, dad, and kid is going to see Obama's smiling face and TIME magazine proclaiming him the victor. Most of America now thinks that Hillary lost and Obama won, and conventional wisdom setters like TIME only cement that notion even further. Why does this matter? Because of the SuperDelegates. Who wants to fall on their sword for Hillary AFTER everyone think - knows - she's lost? These are politicians. They have a choice between supporting the guy who may very well be our next president, or the lady who won't. At some point, opportunity overtakes loyalty, and even fear.

UPDATE: Rahm is now saying it's over too. This is rather huge. Not only did Rahm work for Bill in the White House, and on the campaign, but Rahm is also one of the most powerful Dems in the House. This will put added pressure on Democratic House members to side with Obama and put this thing to rest.

Smear Against Obama...

On Sunday Nedra Pickler of the AP wrote a hit piece trying to call Senator Barack Obama's patriotism into question. Her article said that because Obama wasn't wearing an American flag lapel pin and that he didn't put his hand over his heart during the National Anthem, he is unpatriotic. It's up to us to push back against this right wing smear. Here is my letter to all the major news outlets around my area:
Right in the beginning of Nedra Pickler’s “Conservatives say Obama lacks patriotism” article for the AP, she states that “Sen. Barack Obama's refusal to wear an American flag lapel pin” throws his patriotism into question. From what I thought I knew about Miss Pickler, I assumed that she was a true unbiased reporter. What makes this article hard to swollow is that she never brought up the conservatives that are wearing the American flag lapel pin, say they are patriotic, and have had serious run-ins with the law. Let’s take a look back:

Rick Renzi (R-AZ), recently indicted on multiple counts of conspiracy, wire fraud, money laundering, extortion and insurance fraud, always wore his pin.

Rep. John Doolittle (R-CA) displayed his lapel pin even after having his house raided by the Feds after a two-year investigation.

No one can deny that Rep. Randall “Duke” Cunningham (R-CA) doesn’t make a statement with this lapel pin. Sadly, the Duke’s fashion choices are now limited as he is incarcerated for up to ten years after pleading guilty to tax evasion, conspiracy to commit bribery, mail fraud, and wire fraud. Come 2016, the Duke will no doubt be modeling his patriotism in the form of a dashing lapel pin once again.

Rep. Bob Ney (R-OH), who is known for wearing his lapel pin, is currently serving a prison term for conspiracy to defraud the United States and for a charge of falsifying financial disclosure forms. Very Patriotic!

Former Governor Bob Taft (R-OH) is dressed to impress with this lapel pin. Taft plead no contest to multiple misdemeanors.

Larry Craig wears his patriotic lapel pin during his mug shot for a widely discussed bathroom incident.

So, were any of these people mentioned when Pickler decided to write the smear article concerning the lack of patriotism that the conservatives said about Obama? I find the implication that someone who has dedicated his or her life to serving America lacks patriotism utterly unpalatable. But reading Nedra Pickler of the AP's Sunday smear piece against Senator Barack Obama, it appears that some in the media do not share this opinion. When reputable news outlet, such as the Associated Press, has to rely on right wing propaganda (or any propaganda) to sell articles, makes me sick. I feel myself to be very patriotic, but I don’t wear an American flag lapel pin. Is Pickler and the AP the new McCarthyism?

No doubt that as the campaign season heats up we will hear ever more despicable attacks from conservatives desperate to retain their grip on power. I do not feel that it is the media's place to trumpet these substance-less attacks, and I hope that in the future we can expect reporting that focuses on the candidate's positions rather than trying to call into question how much they love the country they tirelessly serve.

Thank you for your time,
Paul Kopulos
The information about the conservatives and their lapel pins I got from John Cole's Balloon Juice. This is a major issue if we want to have our news organizations be responsable. Most news outlets (TV, Newspaper, etc.) get their news from the Associated Press (AP) or Reuters. When these organizations feel they can make up stories and distort the facts, who can we trust. Now Mark Halperin from Time magazine is jumping on the boat.

Things McCain can do when running against Obama that Clinton has been unable to do well or at all:
  1. Emphasize Barack Hussein Obama’s unusual name and exotic background through a Manchurian Candidate prism.
  2. Allow some supporters to risk being accused of using the race card when criticizing Obama.
The race is getting ugly and when they pick a candidate (either Obama or Clinton), it will get a lot uglier. We need to tell the media that what they are doing will not be tolerated. To write a letter and send it to the newspapers near you click here.

Here is Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow talking about this issue.
