Olbermann, McCain, You Should Know Better...

Olbermann has some words for our veteran friend John McCain:
The Government Accountability Office just released a study Tuesday that concludes that one out of every ten soldiers sent to Iraq, takes with them medical problems "severe enough to significantly limit their ability to fight."

In five years, we have now sent 43-thousand of them to war even though, they were already wounded.

And when they come home, is not that important.

The Iraqi politicians say the treaty demands Iraq’s consent to the establishment of nearly double the number of U.S. military bases in Iraq, from about 30, to 58, and from temporary, to permanent.

Those will be American men and women who must, of necessity, staff these bases - staff them, in Mr. McCain’s MCEscher dream world in which our people can all come home while they stay there for a hundred years but they’ll be back by 2013.

And when they come home, is not that important.

And when we think about McCain's words, "That's not too important", we must remember that every day kids (men and women) are dying. And when McCain tells us that it not important, does he remember the feeling when he was let down by our government when he was a POW? We must remember that all the kids fighting over there are IMPORTANT even if McCain doesn't think so.
This tragedy is of Justin Mixon of Bogalusa, Louisiana. And it’s of Christopher McCarthy of Virginia Beach. It’s of Quincy Green of El Paso, and Joshua Waltenbaugh of Ford City, P.A. The tragedy is of Shane Duffy of Taunton Mass, and Jonathan Emard of Mesquite, Texas. It’s of Cody Legg of Escondido in California, and David Hurst of Fort Sill in Oklahoma. The tragedy is of Thomas Duncan the 3rd of Rowlett, Texas, and Tyler Pickett of Saratoga, Wyoming.

And who are they, Senator?

They are ten Americans, who have died in Iraq since the first of this month. There are four more. The Defense Department has not yet identified the others.

And while you, Senator, may ask for all the context you can get, those ten men... will never know any of it.

Because the true context here, is that if you could ask those American war heroes, or the family and the friends that loved them, if they have a better estimate of when American forces can come home from Iraq…

They could rightly say, "No. But that’s… not… too… important."

Not Alex - New McCain Ad...

John McCain is up on the air with TV ads in a bunch of key states and Obama isn't. There's a big vacuum to fill. Luckily, we've got a secret weapon. Our new Iraq ad is the most effective ad we've ever put together. This isn't your average political ad--it lays out the truth about McCain's Iraq policy in a personal and compelling way. We just got the results back and polling shows that voters found it to be more persuasive than any other ad we've tested before. Can you chip in?

More Bush?...

The scary thing is people are starting to buy into what McCain is selling them. With the Democrats screwing up their chance of getting someone viable into the White House, it seems we may have another 4 years of Bush-like stupidity!

Marine Mistreats Puppy...

This is a disturbing video of a marine tossing a puppy off a cliff in Iraq. The video show three Marines laughing while one of the Marines holds the puppy by the scruff of the neck. After laughing at the puppy, the Marine that is holding the puppy tosses the puppy over a cliff (more than likely to its death). The other Marines laugh and tell him that that was mean. All the Marines laughed at the incident! The Marine that tossed the puppy didn't seem to care!

The Marine that killed the puppy is now back in Hawaii and the Marine Corp is investigating. The Marine Corp has released a statement stating:
"This video is shocking and deplorable and is contrary to the high standards we expect of every Marine... We do not tolerate this type of behavior and will take appropriate action."
This video is very disturbing and is the reason that most of the world hates the U.S. When you see people like this Marine laughing at the senseless murder of another living creature, it pisses people off. It pissed me off. Below is the video from MSNBC:

The part of this story that nobody seems to connect is something that I had written about in an earlier post called Cruelty: The Animal/Human Connection. The problem that many people seem to overlook is the fact that this man (allegedly) abused a puppy and may carry the abuse over to humans.

In three surveys in women’s shelters in Wisconsin and Utah in the late 1990’s an average of 74% of pet-owning women reported that a pet had been threatened, injured or killed by the abusers. (Ascione 1995 &1997 and Quinlisk, 1995)

A study by the Royal SPCA in Great Britain found that 83% of families with a history of animal abuse had also been identified by the social service agencies as at-risk for child abuse or neglect. (Hutton, 1981)

“FBI Special Agent Alan Brantley, who works in the bureau’s behavioral science unit, said agents asked 36 multiple murderers in prison if they had abused animals. About a third said they killed and tortured animals as children, and about half said they did it as adolescents.” LA Times Magzine

How Arrogant...

How arrogant can someone be? Well seems like the president is topping the charts when it comes to arrogance and even ignorance. I got this clip from Crooks and Liars. In it Laura is quoted as saying that "No one suffers more than their President. I hope they know the burden of worry that is on his shoulders every single day for our troops"

OH MY GOD!!! She is telling the American people that this moron is suffering more than the 3,963 soldiers that have lost their lives? That he is suffering more than the families that have lost their loved ones in this stupid war? That he suffers more than the men and women that are going back on their third, fourth and FIFTH rotation? How dare she!!!

And Him, what an idiot. It like listening to a third grader that was held back for four years. Here is his response to Ann Curry's question about the burden:

Ann Curry: So I’ve been wondering, ever since she said that, will the burden of worry, do you think about this war in Iraq, will ever truly leave you?

Bush: Well, what, what what, what, what,(Yes he actually said what five or six times - One great speaker) we mean is the fact that a mother has lost a son, or a wife has lost a husband, or husband has lost a wife. I’ll forever, ya know, uh, carry that with me. On the other hand, I firmly believe that the mission will yield piece. And as people are now beginning to see, Iraq is changing. Democracy is beginning to take hold. And I’m convinced 50 years from now people will look back and say Thank God there were those who were willing to sacrifice.

Here is the video:

The best part of this video is the mentality that Bush has concerning the economy. He thinks that our economy is deteriorating because we built too many homes. Not because we are spending $275 million per day and $4,100 per household. This couldn't possibly be the problem. On the other hand he did make a point that he believes the war is good for our economy. How you may ask? "Because we are buying equipment". So according to our president, War is good for us, but if the war is good then why are we heading into a recession? Oh ya, because we don't have the money to spend on the war, we are borrowing from China (among other countries), the companies that are buying the equipment do not have their offices in the U.S. Why would they, then they would have to pay taxes. Check out this transcript from Andy Rooney

This all comes down to what Eisenhower said about the Military Industrial Complex:

Here is something that people should watch to understand why we are where we are with this war:
IRAQ For Sale:

Blackwater, America's Private Army:

We have lost more than 3,900 men and women in this war. The Iraqis have lost 1,173,743 due to the invasion/occupation by the U.S. Military. It's time to get MAD! It is time for a change. It's time for Bush and Cheney and the evil administration to be held accountable for the War Crimes they have committed. One president got impeached for getting a blow job, why let this one go for getting people killed?
